McLaren Vale fruit characters for Shiraz are wonderfully spicy, rich. and delicious. There are notes of plum, black pepper, eastern spices and soft note of sweet vanilla. The barrel ferment technique makes the wine fruit-forward, with sweet, ripe tannins and early integration of oak.
Wine Spectator Smooth and velvety, with a minty edge to the currant and plum flavors, lingering on the fine-grained finish. Drink now through 2011. Score: 88. —Harvey Steiman, October 15, 2007.Wine Enthusiast Winemaker Nick Goldschmidt has turned out a Shiraz that seems a bit conflicted. It’s only medium-bodied, yet packs in overripe flavors of cooked berries laced with dark chocolate and espresso. The peppery notes on the finish give it enough verve to pair with steaks or burgers. Score: 87. —Joe Czerwinski, April 01, 2008.
