This minimally oaked Cabernet Sauvignon offers fruit-forward aromas and flavors of slight cherry and blueberry throughout. The balance of fruit and soft oak provides a lingering finish with hints of cocoa. The Wine Spectator Smooth and appealing for its plum and spice flavors, this is a gentle wine that never raises its voice, but retains a pleasant texture on the finish. Drink now. 140,800 cases made. The Wine Enthusiast RATING 85 2004 Columbia Crest Two Vines Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley (WA), $8 Best Buy A Best Buy This is a solid effort in a very difficult vintage. A freeze took out a lot of Washington grapevines in 2004, and it probably impacted the quality of the fruit available for this budget blend. The 2004 carries far more of the green bean and herbal qualities than recent vintages, but the tannins are softened and for the price it seems honest and well-made. Score: 85. —Paul Gregutt, August 01, 2007.
